Whenever the word hypnosis is mentioned there is always controversy as to whether those involved are attention seekers or they are genuinely hypnotised. With such a big premise for the new Channel 4 TV show it was always bound to bring out the skeptics from The Guardian to the BBC 5 Live presenter Boyd Hilton. But as the hypnotist on the show I have a few things to say to those of you who are a little on the fence…
Before we get into whether it’s real or fake you should probably find out a little more about the programme if you haven’t yet seen it.
Hello Stranger is a dating show with a twist. Couple George and Lucy, who are looking to recapture the excitement of falling in love, meet hypnotist Aaron Calvert who makes them temporarily forget each other. They start dating again, including each other, but will they fall in love second time around?

REAL OR FAKE?
So the big question… is the hypnosis in Hello Stranger real or fake? The short answer is it’s real, everything you see on the show genuinely happened and the experience Lucy & George go through is genuine. But you’re probably reading this as a skeptic and you’re not thinking ‘of course Aaron would say that he’s the hypnotist on the show’ but hopefully the interview with BBC 5 Live will quash those thoughts.
