Junior Doctor Swaps Stethoscope for Stage at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Aaron Calvert: Mind Games

As a qualified doctor, Aaron Calvert could have picked up a scalpel and put his powers of hypnosis to work in a medical theatre or a doctor’s surgery. However, Calvert decided to move away from medicine and instead, embrace a slightly different type of theatre.

Aaron Calvert: Mind Games is an interactive experience fusing magic, psychology and hypnosis. The show takes audiences on a journey, demonstrating how thoughts can be influenced and how the mind can be tricked, both during the show and within every day life. This fast paced show delivers a unique audience experience, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats throughout.

Currently working full time as a mind reader and hypnotist, 25 year old Manchester born Calvert not only performs his stage show across the UK, he also performs at private events with clients such as Samsung and AstraZeneca. An incredibly intelligent, interesting and quick-witted young man, Aaron’s genuine personality and charisma shine through both on stage and in person. Though Aaron would have made a wonderful doctor, he chose to take a leap of faith, trading a more stable career for one which is perhaps more unpredictable, but certainly more entertaining.

Together with award winning magician, Sam Fitton, Aaron Calvert: MIND GAMES has been especially written for the fringe and represents Calvert’s debut at the festival. Having previewed the fringe show to more than 600 people, this is no work in progress; it builds upon the success of the five star theatre production which previously visited UK theatres in 2012 and 2014. Edinburgh represents a pivotal moment in this young man’s career, as he hopes to take this show across the country and into international arenas.
